Hindi Junior Class October 25, 2015

Today we divided the Junior class into 'Basic' and 'Intermediate'. All students who are attending Hindi classes for the first time joined the Basic class and the repeat students from last year were in the intermediate class.
Basic Class -
We reviewed the Diwali song and the meaning of the song. We had all the kids repeat the song and the meaning. Some of the Children are still struggling with it so please review at home.
We learnt  that Hindi has 13 vowels and we started with one– and learnt five words starting with and their meaning : अनानास ,अमीर,अच्छा,अभि,अनार.
We introduced conversing in Hindi :
What is your name and response
Intermediate Class -
We reviewed list of words from letters Anar (pomegranate), Ananus (pineapple), Abhi(now) and Aag(fire), Aalu(potato), Aaj(Today), Aatta (flour) etc. We also practiced our lines for the Diwali program. We will have a vowel test at the end of the vowel review.

October 25, 2015

Today in class we reinforced the matras and rules. This includes when to write the full swar, and that matras only appear on consonants (vyanjan). We did role playing to understand how matras combine with vyanjan to form different sounds.

Homework: Write each swar (vowel) from अ to ऐ and its matra five times each as follows:
अ        अ       अ       अ       अ
आ ा    आ ा    आ ा    आ ा    आ ा
 इ  ि    इ  ि    इ  ि    इ  ि    इ  ि      
and so on until ऐ.

Hindi Junior Class - Oct 11th, 2015

In this class, new and returning students reviewed what we learned in previous classes, as well as the meaning of the Diwali song words. In 'Back to Balvihar Hindi', we provided information regarding the syllabus and addressed parent's questions.

Hindi Senior Class October 18, 2015

Today in class we reviewed the matras and introduced some basic words for each matra. The consonant base for these words is the letter "ka".
(Ex. Kamal, kaan, etc.)

Homework: Write all matras with the letter base "va".

Hindi Junior Class - Oct 4th, 2015

Hindi class will be performing a Diwali program on 11/15/15. The returning students will be speaking a few lines about Diwali in Hindi and then the entire Junior class will sing the Diwali song.

Respective lines for returning students is as follows -
1.Namaste (All returning children)
2.Diwali hinduoka tauhar hai - Sanjit
3.Diwali ko Dipawali bhi kahte hai - Shloka
4.Dipawali ka arth hai dipo ki mala - Sandhya
5.Diwali ko Roshani ka Parv bhi kehte hai - Ruhan + Shanaya
6.Is din Bhagwan Ram, Lakshman or Sita Ayudhya lote the - Anushree
7.Diwali per sab ghar sajate hai - Manu

Parents of returning students - Please practice the lines with your child. Hopefully they still remember the song. If your child was not present in the last class - you will not see their name in the list - we will add them to the names when they come to the next class.

As the class is now more than 30 kids, we are evaluating splitting the junior class into 'Basic' and 'Intermediate'. We should have a decision on whether to continue both groups in the same room or separate rooms in the next 2-3 classes.

Hindi Junior Class - Sep 27th, 2015

We divided the class into two sections - New students joining this year and returning students. New students will be learning alphabets, letters, numbers, colors, etc while returning students will focus on more conversational Hindi.

In the first class, new students learned numbers (1 to 10), colors (Red,white,green,blue,black,red and pink) and body parts (Head,hair,hand,feet,fingers,ears,eyes and nose). Returning students refreshed the same info as well as presented the Dhobi song to the New students. We did a competition on who could sing the Dhobi song louder !!!
