Hindi Senior Class - Sept 14, 2014

Arvind Agarwal and Jyoti Agarwal (not related to each other) are happy to teach Hindi Senior this year at BBNJ. In the first class week, the class consisted of 5 enthusiastic kids. During the class we reviewed vowels and consonants. All students have written these in their note books. If they didn't have notebooks they were provided paper and writing tools. They were also requested to write 5 three letter words and 5 four letter words. The expectation in this class is that the students have a limited base of vowels, consonants, Hindi speaking ability (limited) and ability to understand Hindi. We consider all students to be at an intermediate level rather than a senior level. For the next class, please ensure that students bring a notebook, sharpened pencils, eraser, and completed homework. If there are too few students on any particular day, Hindi Senior may be combined with the Hindi Junior class.

Regards,
Hindi Senior Teachers

Hindi Junior Class - Sept 14, 2014

We had a wonderful first day . There were several repeat students who are continuing with Hindi Jr this year. We have exciting new things planned out for them. To kick off our class, Hindi Juniors learned ‘Hello’ and ‘Thank you’ which will be said at the beginning and end of class. They learned/reviewed:

  • Colors (Yellow, Blue, Red, Black, White, Black, Orange, Green and Purple )
  • Fruits (Apple, Banana, Mango, Grapes, Orange and Pomegranate) as well as
  • Numbers 1 to 10 in Hindi.
Since we have a lot of material to cover during the year, please review what they learnt each week so that your child is able to move forward with the rest of the class. We will provide you with a syllabus copy in the upcoming weeks. We will also provide individual assessments for you to review the progress of your child as well. In the next class, please provide your email addresses in the weekly class sign up sheet so that we can communicate any specific instructions if needed.

BBNJ Hindi Jr. 04/06/14

Hari Om!

Started the class with opening prayers. Since we finished all the vowels except ऋ , we are now moving onto consonants.

We started with क (ka) and ख (kha) yesterday.
क (ka) - कमल (Kamal) meaning Lotus
ख (kha) - खरगोश (Khargosh) meaning Rabbit.
We also discussed about their colors.

Some of the parents present in the class came up with words which begins with क and ख and the children had to identify the alphabet it starts with. If the word was of a fruit, we discussed their color and taste as well. If the word was of an animal, we discussed only their color.

Towards the end of the class, there was a test on vowels. Looking at their papers, children need more practice at home writing and practicing all those alphabets multiple times.

HW for next two weeks (as the next BV class is only on Apr. 27th):

1.Learn to write your name in Hindi. (Parents: please help your child with this)
2.Practice all the vowels at least 10-15 times each. (I'll check their notebook if they have done that, if not,        they will do the same in class). We cannot move forward if they do not remember the vowels properly.)
3.Practice writing the two new alphabets (Consonants) 5 times each.
4.Revise these two rhymes which they shall be presenting in the assembly sometime in May (TBD).

BBNJ Hindi Jr. 3/9/14

Hari Om!

Last class we focused on learning/revising the 2 rhymes. We are planning to perform this in April (date TBD) during the assembly. The kids really like these rhymes, their faces light up watching it and they love singing along. We learned it with actions.

Please have your child listen to it and repeat the rhymes with actions that was taught to them in class. Ask them to explain the meanings (We have gone over it too)

3/9/14 BBNJ Hindi Sr.

Hari Om,
This week we continued with the conversations started in the previous week with Dinkar uncle.
We added some new vocabulary words to make or skits better.
Next week, the kids will bring their own scenarios to enact and we will work on the sentence structure, grammar and vocabulary.
