Parents of new students - Please practice the song with your child during car rides or free time. Link to Aai Diwali song: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnoWRBtJ2Fo)

Parents of returning students - Please practice the lines with your child. Hopefully they still remember the song. If your child was not present in the last class - you will not see their name in the list - we will add them to the names when they come to the next class.

As the class is now more than 30 kids, we are evaluating splitting the junior class into 'Basic' and 'Intermediate'. We should have a decision on whether to continue both groups in the same room or separate rooms in the next 2-3 classes.

Hindi Junior Class - Sep 27th, 2015

We divided the class into two sections - New students joining this year and returning students. New students will be learning alphabets, letters, numbers, colors, etc while returning students will focus on more conversational Hindi.

In the first class, new students learned numbers (1 to 10), colors (Red,white, green, blue, black, red and pink) and body parts (Head, hair, hand, feet, fingers, ears, eyes and nose). Returning students refreshed the same info as well as presented the Dhobi song to the New students. We did a competition on who could sing the Dhobi song louder !!!

DHOBI AYA
Dhobi aya Dhobi aya, Kapade saf,
Laundryman came, Laundryman came, clothes clean,
Kitne Kapde laya ? (2)
How many clothes brought?
Ek do tin, char panch che,
One two three, four five six,
Sat aatth nav, dus – ubb bus
Seven eight nine, ten – that’s it stop

Hindi Junior Class - May 2nd, 2015

Hindi junior class will be singing the below 3 songs on June 14th in the auditorium. More details on timing etc to follow.

We would want everyone to sing confidently and I am sure you want the same. As we have only few classes left, we do not have enough time to practice with each child individually. We need your cooperation. Please have your child practice these songs on a daily basis during commute in car as well as whenever you have few minutes with them.

EK TAMATAR

ek tamatar laal laal
(one tomato red red)
jaise mere laal gaal

(like my red cheek)
hum bhi khaayein

(I also eat)
tum bhi khao

(you also eat)
ho jayein sab laal laal…

(let’s be all red red)

LAKADI KI KATHI – Movie Masoom

lakadi ki kaathi kaathi pe ghoda
ghode ki dum pe jo maara hathauda
dauda dauda dauda ghoda dum utha ke dauda

a frame of wood, a horse on the frame,
when the hammer struck on the horse's tail,
ran, ran, the horse ran with its tail high..

ghoda pahuncha chauk mein chauk mein tha naai
ghodeji ki naai ne hazaamat jo banaai
dauda dauda dauda ghoda dum utha ke dauda

the horse reached the square, on the square there was a barber,
and when the barber started shaving the dear horse,
ran, ran, the horse ran with its tail high..

ghoda tha ghamandi pahuncha sabji mandi
sabji mandi baraf padi thi baraf mein lag gai thandi
dauda dauda dauda ghoda dum utha ke dauda

the horse was proud, reached the vegetable market,
in the market there was snow, in the snow it caught cold,
ran, ran, the horse ran with its tail high..

ghoda apana tagda hai dekho kitani charbi hai
chalta hai mehrauli mein par ghoda apna arabi hai
dauda dauda dauda ghoda dum utha ke dauda

our horse is strong, see how much fat it has,
it walks in Mehrauli (in Delhi, India), but our horse is an Arabic one,
ran, ran, the horse ran with its tail high..

Dhanyawad.
Thank you.
