Hari Om!

Hindi Class (Sept. 29th 2013)

Junior:
We have started writing alphabets.
अ (A) - अ ना र  Anaar (Pomegranate)
आ (Aa)  - आ म Aam (Mango)

We did numbers (orally) in Hindi upto 7. They also learned to say धन्यवाद (Dhanyawad) which means Thank you. Please practice these small words and the basic conversations covered earlier at home so that they don't forget and are prepared to learn something new in every class.

I have attached the practice worksheets for the first 2 alphabets in the email. You can print multiple copies of this and have them practice nicely. Please also help children with numbers. We will be continuing with numbers and alphabets next week as well.

Senior:
We continued with the alphabets and one sentence.  Please see below.
Every students completed their homework.  I have asked every student to find out how to reply in Hindi when someone asks you -  आपकी उम्र क्या है?  aapkee umr kyaa hai   (How Old are You?)

Hari Om!

Hindi Class (Sept. 22nd 2013)

Junior:
Since we had 8 new kids, we went over some of the things we did last week. Colors, small conversations and learned numbers until 5 in Hindi. Next week, we will be learning more numbers and begin writing alphabets. Please practice the conversations, colors, and numbers with your children at home so that they don't forget.

We started with alphabets and also did one sentence and meaning of each word. Homework is to print the alphabets and trace them. Please see the attachment below for reference. Direct all the queries to Dinkar (email provided above).

Hindi class (Sept. 15th 2013)

First class was just general introduction with students and their parents. We have divided the Hindi class in two groups in Junior and Senior. Junior group will have students from Pre-K to 2nd Grade and Senior group will have students from 3rd grade onwards.

They learned basic colors in Hindi and some very simple conversation.

Colors covered were:
हरा - Hara (Green), लाल - Lal (Red), नीला -Neela (Blue), पीला - Peela (Yellow), भूरा - Bhura (Brown),  गुलाबी - Gulabi (Pink), बैंगनी - Baingani (Violet/Purple), काला - Kala (Black), सफेद - Safed (White), नारंगी - Naarangi (Orange) 

Simple conversations:
Hello, How are you? I am fine.
नमस्ते, आप कैसे हैं? मैं ठीक हूँ |

What is your name? My name is ______.
आपका नाम क्या है? मेरा नाम _______ है |

The Homework for this week:
Say this in Hindi: I am ______ yrs. old.

We will send the worksheets and PDF files of books to your email so please print them accordingly. For the younger kids, we request at least one parent to be in the class with their child. Please have them bring a notebook and a folder for the class. Feel free to ask any questions you might still have.
