Hindi Junior Class - Oct 26, 2014


Children got chocolates for singing the Diwali song so well ! 
We learned to read and write two new letters and  as well as learned few words starting with them. After completing the activities in the book for these letters, the students got an opportunity to write all letters learned so far (, , and   ) on the board individually.

Hindi Junior Class - Oct 19, 2014


We practiced the Diwali song. In addition, we learned that Hindi has 13 vowels and we started with two – and आ. We learned words starting with these letters and also did a few activities related to it.

REMINDERS:-
  • We will be singing the Diwali Song in the assembly in the next class. Kids must be in Indian attire and in assembly at 9:30am.
  • Those of you who have not yet purchased the books, please do so before the next class. Also please pack pencils, erasers and crayons in your child’s bag.

Hindi Junior Class - Oct 12, 2014


We went over relationships in Hindi – Mother, father, Brother , Sister, Grandfather and Grandmother. Students did self-introduction in Hindi -  My name is…, I am a boy/girl. I am X years old. We reviewed previous material including a ‘Dhobi’ song for numbers, colors and bird names. We also practiced the Diwali song. The Jr class will be singing the song on Oct 26th. Please have your kids wear Indian attire on the 26th and practice the song with them. Diwali song is as follows:-

आई दिवाली आई दिवाली Aai divali aai divali
आई दिवाली रे ! Aai divali re
दीप जलाओ ख़ुशी मनाओ Deep jalao Khushi manao
आई दिवाली रे ! Aai divali re
खूब चले फुलझड़ी पटाखे Khoob jale fuljhadi patakhe

Namaste: Hindi Senior students started creating two, three and four letter words with the अ matra. We plan to add other matras in the next few classes to build vocabulary and understand word composition. Students are assigned homework to re-in force the concepts and requested to write 10 two letter, 10 three letter and 10 four letter words. The homework should be written as follows:
           य+ह= यह means This

           Students can use all resources available to them.

           We are a small class of four students and all appear to be somewhat on par with each other.
            
             We also learned a poem "Aai Diwali:" in class. For oct 26, the class will participate in the  assembly and sing a ram bhajan. Lyrics will be sent home next class.

We wrapped the class with a four corners games to reinforce basic colors. Kids seemed to enjoy this activity.

Please ensure that children bring a dedicated notebook and writing tools.

 I will in be in India the weekend of oct 19. Arvindji or Mahimaji  are available to cover the class. I will return on oct 26.

Hindi Junior Class - Oct 5, 2014

We reviewed what we learned so far- numbers 1 to 10, colors, names of body parts, fruits, birds and greeting in Hindi. In addition to this, we practiced our Diwali song - 'Aai diwali aai divali Aai diwali re'. Hindi Jr class will be singing this song in the assembly on Oct 26th, so please practice with them. A copy of the song was send home few classes back. It is available on you-tube as well. Books have been ordered and will be available to purchase in a week or two.
